Rhino's first true production car, the Saleen S7

Rhino  - Start with a sketch, drawing, physical model, or only an idea—Rhino provides the tools to accurately model your designs ready for rendering, animation, drafting, engineering, analysis, and manufacturing.   Rhino needs only your imagination and an ordinary Windows PC.  It's a 3-d modelling program, but they do deal with K12 and have an educational slant in that respect (also, special deals for schools)  Shared by Andrew Strebkov, Technical Consultant SCSSI

Poly is a program for investigating polyhedral shapes. Poly can display polyhedral shapes in three main ways:
as a three-dimensional image, as an flattened, two-dimensional net, and as a topological embedding in the plane.  The three-dimensional images may be interactively rotated and folded/unfolded. Physical models may be produced by printing out the flattened two-dimensional net, cutting around its perimeter, folding along the edges, and finally taping together neighbouring faces.  Poly includes six categories of polyhedra.

A very easy-to-use graphing program.  It graphs functions, relations, and inequalities and has the ability to show both graphs and tables of values simultaneously.  Zooming is a whiz with the mouse.  The ease of zooming and an optional grid provide quick estimations for points of intersection. Graph papers include rectangular, trigonometric, polar, and logarithmic options.  Differentiation and integration capabilities make this program useful from middle school through college freshman mathematics.  The price is right should your school wish to purchase this shareware program. Windows and DOS platforms.

X(Plore) (click to go to the X(Plore)  web site)
A user-friendly numerical mathematics program.  It graphs, calculates, and allows the user to program functions and routines not already built-in.   Functions are entered as you would write them using pencil and paper.  It accommodates any mathematics you may wish to do from arithmetic to calculus and linear algebra.  It is most useful in Algebra I and above.  A shareware program with a low price of $25 for registration. Windows and DOS platforms.

Geometer's Sketchpad (click to go to the Geometer's Sketchpad web site)
A premier program for exploring geometry.  Any construction that can be done with compass and straight edge is possible using this program.  But, the program allows measurement and manipulation of constructed objects to formulate conjectures.  Transformations can be studied as never before with the ability to translate, reflect, and rotate constructed figures. Constructs loci of points, includes grid, table, and calculator capabilities.  Excellent for any grade level from elementary school through college.  While this is not shareware, a demonstration version that does everything except save and print can be downloaded from the Key Curriculum site.  The price of a site license is reasonable.  Windows and Mac platforms.
